My California visit

Hello friends,

I recently took a trip home for a week. I am from the Bay Area in California so I spend most of my time there. I did also take a day trip to L.A which was short but so fun! I wanted to share a few of my favorite things to do, places  and restaurants to go to while I am home.

So this is for all my nature and succulent lovers: You must visit the Ruth Bancroft garden in Walnut Creek. It costs about $10 and this garden is pretty big. They give you a map with the different types of plants that are in the garden. They have benches and picnic tables if you just wanted a mini vacation to read or eat lunch. You are able to purchase succulents from their nursery for good prices. I hate that I cannot buy any without having to ship them all the way to Indiana but I made sure to get my sisters and mom some 🙂

Here are a few photos we took:

We had so much fun walking around. It was also the sculpture walk so they had a lot of sculptures on display which was pretty neat.

My second favorite thing to do while I am home is to see my friends band play which seems to be a tradition every time I am home. The Foreign Frontiers always put on a fun show. They played at Slim’s in SF while I was there.

The video I took didn’t come out that well but you should check them out here is their music video: Foreign Frontiers Buckle music video .

While I was home I visited the Eastbay Coffee company in Pinole. The worship pastors from my home church own it and I love seeing how well it is doing. The night we went was the open mic night and I decided to sing a song I wrote. It was so nerve racking but fun. It was so cool to see so many talented artists from the bay area perform. Definitely a place you should visit! Here is the video from my performance : Promise live

Now, this next thing is something you should always do when in Cali, drum roll please…..

I grew up always thrifting because you can find so many cute things. This trip I did find quite a few steals like these barely worn name brand normally $100 boots for $20.

A few of my favorite bay area resturants I made sure to visit this time around there are more but I didn’t have time to visit:

Taco Jaliscos, In N out, Combo express or should I say the best Chinese food ever, Jamba juice(I wish they had it in Indiana), I also Tried Simple Thai for the first time and they were really good. (these places are in Vallejo, CA)

Now, on to my So. Cal stops.

First stop: Lemonade! The food here is so refreshing on top of they have have the best flavors of lemonade(obviously). Two of my favorites are blueberry mint and guava.

Next stop: I heart boba. I love their boba smoothies. I went here all the time when I lived in Los Angeles.

and next we have Salt&Straw. Such good ice cream, plus I had to get their cute mug.

We spent the majority of our day at Santa monica. I love their beach, peer, and the Third Street Promenade(especially when it is evening because the lights are so pretty).

My last stop was downtown disney. Disneyland is just too expensive so I settled for downtown disney which was super cute. I had to say good byes to friends and also get in a quick meal with my bestie Jenna since she was in LA the same time I was.

I am so happy I got to spend time with family and friends while being home and also to attend the New Song Revival reunion. New Song is so much the reason I am where I am with God today. They truly taught me to seek God and to be intentional with people and how to minister. They taught me that worship is more than music but an overflow of the relationship built in the secret place. It was so refreshing going home but I was happy to come back to Indiana and to continue to press into all God has for me here.

Until next time,

Steph O.
