Today I wanted to talk about the idea of setting goals. I honestly am the biggest dreamer ever but planning has never been a huge strong suit of mine. I have the dream and vision but struggle with setting goals to get there. Am I the only one?

At about twenty one is when I started to see the importance of planning, scheduling and goal setting. I have become more aware of the importance of goal setting in order to reach my dreams because let’s be honest nothing happens just by hoping it will. We must put action behind our dreams and be diligent.

  • Buy a note book designed for your goals and dreams.

What is your 1, 3, 5, 7,10 year goal with your career, with your family, your faith, etc.? Write it down.

With my goals I like to set a daily and monthly goal as well because what I do there will impact the yearly goals.

  • Get a calendar and get to scheduling time aside for those goals.

I schedule time daily to work on my goals because I know if I don’t I’ll fill that time with something that doesn’t help my goals.

  • Surround yourself with people who are in similar fields or places in life to your goal and ask them to mentor you and just let them inspire you with how they reach their goals. You can even read books and biographies that can really inspire you. I have plenty of people in my life who I look up to and inspire me and most of the time they help me set practical steps to achieve my long term goal. I can over complicate things which overwhelms me and that really ends up preventing me from moving forward. I’m grateful for people who help me in Simplicizing my goals.
  • Don’t let setbacks discourage you. We are all in a process and setbacks happen. You can either let your setbacks stop you or launch you, it is up to you.

What are some ways that help you reach your goals? What are some areas you can do better at in order to reach your dreams?

“You don’t have to be great to start, but you have to start to be great.” — Zig Ziglar

Until next time,
